JODHPUR CRAFTS Handicraft Iron Lalten16-inch height

Description
This is the JODHPUR CRAFTS Handicraft Iron Lalten, shown here with its side door open. Seeing it empty highlights the 16-inch height and the high-quality glass panels that protect your candle from drafts.
Product Breakdown
  • Design: A blend of vintage and traditional Indian aesthetics, featuring a “Minar” style top and a sturdy hanging handle.
  • Finish: Hand-applied antique gold over a textured iron body, giving it a weathered, “found” look.
  • Functionality: The easy-access side door makes it simple to place and light a candle or switch on an LED pillar.
Quick Display Tip
Since this lantern is quite large, it looks best as a floor accent in a corner or as a centerpiece on a low coffee table. If you’re hanging it, ensure the hook is securely anchored, as the iron and glass together weigh about 1.6 kg
1. Routine Dusting
  • Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth: Gently wipe down the exterior iron frame and the top “finial” to remove loose dust.
  • Detailing the cutwork: For the intricate jali (latticework) at the top and bottom, use a soft-bristled paintbrush or a can of compressed air to clear out dust trapped in the small holes.
2. Cleaning the Glass Panels
  • Mild solution: Mix a few drops of dish soap with warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the antique golden finish on the metal.
  • Wipe panels: Dampen a cloth in the solution and wipe the glass panels. If your lantern has an opening door, clean the inside of the glass as well.
  • Buff to a shine: Immediately dry the glass with a clean, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots.
3. Maintaining the Metal Finish
  • Keep it dry: Since the lantern is made of iron, never soak it in water or leave it damp, as this can lead to rusting over time.
  • Restore the luster: If the antique gold finish starts to look dull, you can rub a tiny amount of olive oil or coconut oil onto a cloth and buff the metal lightly. This adds a protective layer and restores the “glow.”
4. Wax Removal (If using real candles)
  • The Freezer Trick: if wax drips onto the bottom, place the lantern (if it fits) in the freezer for an hour. The wax will become brittle and pop right off.
  • Warmth: Alternatively, use a hairdryer on a low setting to soften the wax, then wipe it away with a paper towel
